The Duke Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies presents the last film in the Duke Haitian Film Series. At the age of 18 years, Toussaint Louverture, sees his father, an old slave, thrown into the harbor judged unproductive. This will mark Louverture forever. As an adult, after having been freed, he led the slave revolt that leads to the independence of Haiti. (180 mins).
