Raúl Necochea

Assistant Professor of Social Medicine

Raúl Necochea is Assistant Professor of Social Medicine and Adjunct Assistant Professor in History. He obtained his Ph.D. in History from McGill University, and held a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health before joining UNC. He is broadly interested in the history of medicine and science, sexual and reproductive health, Latin America, and the relations between developed and developing regions. He is the author of A History of Family Planning in Twentieth Century Peru (University of North Carolina Press, 2014), and he is presently studying the history of Mexican health policies for immigrants to the US, and the social and ethical implications of HIV/AIDS cure research.”
