ISA is offering a special spring 2025 course “Migration and the Environment in Central American and the Caribbean,”(LTAM 390/403), that includes a spring break trip to Costa Rica (March 9-16, 2025). This experiential course focuses on human migration and the environment in Central America and the Caribbean, including climate change as a key theme. Students will learn about the history and dynamics of migration connecting Central America, the Caribbean, and the United States, exploring the environmental factors that shape people’s decisions to leave a homeland.

Course Details:

  • The course meets on Mondays at 2:25pm – 4:55pm in the FedEx Global Education Center.
  • UNC sophomores, juniors, and seniors; and graduate students are eligible to apply.
  • Proficiency in written and oral Spanish and/or SPAN 204 required.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 required.
  • The spring break trip will require moderate physical activity.
