Raúl Necochea is Associate Professor of Social Medicine and Adjunct Associate Professor of History. He obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University, and held a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health before joining UNC. He is broadly interested in the history of medicine and science, sexual and reproductive health, and Latin America. He is the author of A History of Family Planning in Twentieth Century Peru (University of North Carolina Press, 2014). He is currently researching the history of cancer care in Latin America, from the 19th century to the age of HPV.
