MURAL Multilingual Research Capacity Building Lecture Series: Interpreters, Translators, and Research Participants

Learn about the importance of collaborating with qualified interpreters and translators when designing and implementing health research studies with Speakers of Languages other than English. Ms. Peereboom will detail the roles and modes of interpreters and different local resources available for reaching qualified interpreters. She will also present case studies in which the lack of adequate protocols for ensuring quality language interpreting resulted in medical errors. Finally, she will present some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when working with interpreters and translators.
