Only the Moon | Solamente la luna

Only The Moon is an animated documentary about my father’s immigration story from Peru to the U.S., which visualizes his dreamlike memories of transformation through the ’60s, and what it means to grow old as a Latino immigrant in the age of Trump.

On the commemoration of the military dictatorship that kidnapped and killed his grandparents, Vicente, a 15-year-old boy, joins his father in a massive demonstration in Buenos Aires. For the first time, Vicente will embrace a central role at the forefront of the march. A story about commitment transcending generations told from the heart of a collective cause. A world with only one letter. The earliest certain ancestor of “A” is aleph (also written ‘aleph), the first letter of the Phoenician alphabet (which consisted entirely of consonants; for that reason, it is also called an abjad to distinguish it from a true alphabet). In turn, the ancestor of aleph may have been a pictogram of an ox head in proto-Sinaitic script influenced by Egyptian hieroglyphs, styled as a triangular head with two horns extended.

Unsure whether to help her, sell her, or release her back into the ocean, the two of them, along with Pato’s overprotective mother Magda, must decide what to do when a bit of magic invades their world.
