Call for Proposals: North Carolina Conference on Latin American Studies, NC/CLAS 2021

The Consortium in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University and the Latin American Studies Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte are pleased to announce the third annual North Carolina Conference on Latin American Studies (NC/CLAS). NC/CLAS 2021 ‘virtual’ program seeks to bring together scholars, specialists, and graduate students in North Carolina engaged in the diverse and multiple disciplinary domains dedicated to Latin American and Latino/a studies, past and present.

The NC/CLAS 2021 organizers are pleased to invite submissions of proposals for panels to present current scholarship from any disciplinary perspective to address subjects of new research, matters of pedagogy, and address themes of advocacy and policy. Proposed panels may take the form of traditional scholarly presentations, workshops, and roundtable discussions. Please note: only complete panel/workshop/roundtable proposals will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in the 2021 program. Panels with more than three scheduled presenters will not be considered. A discussant/commentator may be included on the panel. However, panel organizers should take note that the limitations imposed by a ‘virtual’ conference will restrict each panel/workshop/roundtable to a maximum of one hour. The NC/CLAS 2021 organizers will provide moderators for the program panels. The theme of NC/CLAS 2021 will be dedicated to "Engaging Latin American Realities."

NC/CLAS 2021 will be hosted by Duke University on February 19-20, 2021.

Please submit proposals through the application located at NC/CLAS 2021 . The deadline for submission of proposed panels is November 1, 2020. Please send inquiries to:
