Dr. Becker-Dreps is Director of the UNC Program in Nicaragua, Associate Director of the Office of International Activities, and Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology. Her research focuses on childhood diarrhea and the evaluation of vaccine effectiveness. She has evaluated the impact of rotavirus immunization programs in Nicaragua and the US and is currently conducting studies to understand why rotavirus vaccines have lower effectiveness in low-income settings. She has also evaluated the impact of pneumococcal immunization programs in Nicaragua.
