State of Yucatan in Mexico declared the Maya language as part of its cultural patrimony.
On February 16, 2022 the State of Yucatan in Mexico declared the Maya language as part of its cultural patrimony. ("Lengua maya es declarada patrimonio cultural intangible de Yucatán"). This declaration aims to promote and spread the historic and current cultural importance of the Mayan language and of those who speak Maya. Congratulations to our Yucatec Maya professor Fidencio Briceño Chel and the team of Maya instructors who have worked long and hard to achieve this milestone.
