New Roots - Nuevas Raíces featured in the Daily Tar Heel
UNC junior Gabriella Montes discusses her experience collecting two oral histories for the New Roots: Voices from Carolina del Norte (Nuevas Raíces: Voces de Carolina del Norte) oral history archive in a recent Daily Tar Heel article. The New Roots archive is a digital collection containing bilingual oral histories documenting stories of Latin American and Caribbean immigration to the U.S. South. She learned about the oral history collection process through participating in Associate Director Dr. Hannah Gill's LTAM 390: Special Topics in Latin American Studies course. This course combines oral history and service-learning to examine Latin American migrant perspectives.
