Please join this professional workshop to learn about Languages Across the Curriculum (LAC) (also known as CLAC – Cultures and Languages Across the Curriculum).

LAC courses combine content with language. By using the foreign language to teach the topic, instructors help their students become more knowledgeable about the topic and the culture surrounding it. Imagine teaching a course on archeology in Greek! Or a course on traditional herbal remedies in Quechua or Spanish! The Italian fashion industry in Italian! Anime in Japanese! How about teaching about freedom of the press in a country by using that country’s newspapers and editorials! The goal for LAC/CLAC courses is to use multilingual resources and multicultural perspectives in approaching course topics. Students and faculty in LAC/CLAC courses, in any discipline, use primary resources in the applicable language(s) to enhance their research and study of the material.

LAC/CLAC course formats include one-hour stand-alone courses and one-hour recitation courses attached to other UNC courses.

Come to the free workshop to learn how to create such courses and teach them here at UNC!
