"Peru: Ancient and Modern" is a two-day conference held on both the UNC and Duke campuses. The first day of the conference will focus on the Moche and Chimu civilizations and will feature our own Brian Billman and Gabriel Prieto, the archaeologist who recently made international headlines through his discovery of graves of mass child sacrifices near Trujillo. The second night will focus on the political violence of the late-20th-century, with the award-winning Peruvian historian Ponciano Del Pino.
